The Regional Ministry confirms that 1,127 people have been admitted to Valencian hospitals for covid and 178 to the ICU.
The Comunitat Valenciana updates the coronavirus data and once again registers a new historical record. A total of 22,832 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR or antigen testing have been reported since the update on Friday 31 December. This update brings the total number of positives to 662,937 people. The new cases by province are 2,163 in Castellón (73,282 in total); 8,390 in Alicante (239,077) and 12,279 in Valencia (350,577). The number of unassigned cases remains at 1.
On the other hand, 12,968 patients with coronavirus have been discharged. This brings to 585,322 the number of people who have overcome the disease since the pandemic began in the Valencia Region. By provinces, the discharges are distributed as follows: 65,331 in Castellón, 212,105 in Alicante and 307,830 in Valencia. The total number of unassigned registrations remains at 56.
Valencian hospitals currently have 1,127 people admitted, 178 of them in the ICU: 169 in the province of Castellón, 25 in the ICU; 342 in the province of Alicante, 67 of them in the ICU; and 616 in the province of Valencia, 86 in the ICU.
Nine deaths due to coronavirus have been reported since the last update, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 8,126: 916 in the province of Castellón, 3,124 in the province of Alicante and 4,086 in the province of Valencia. These are six women aged between 80 and 91, and three men aged between 57 and 65.
According to the data recorded, there are currently 80,930 active cases, which represents 12% of the total number of positive cases.
The omicron variant is already responsible for half of all infections.
